“5th Annual Executive Briefing on Private Capital in Turkiye and Environs” Conference, hosted by Globalturk Capital with the strategic partnership of the Presidency Investment Office and the Global Private Equity Association (GPCA), brought together significant developments in the global private equity field, making it a groundbreaking event in the industry. Held in Istanbul, this prestigious conference gathered over 45 investor panelists worldwide, uniting leading figures in the private equity world.
Speakers, including Vice President of the Republic of Türkiye, Cevdet Yılmaz and Presidency Investment Office President Burak Dağlıoğlu, emphasized Türkiye’s stable growing economy and the increase in technology-focused investments. The conference hosted a series of panels discussing the activities and future potentials of private equity funds in Türkiye and the surrounding region.
Founder and Managing Partner of Globalturk Capital, and Advisory Board Member of Woman in Technology Association, Barış Öney evaluated the success of the conference and emphasized that Türkiye offers attractive conditions for investors. Commenting on the success of the conference Öney stated: ‘We are talking about a broad geography ranging from North Africa to the Middle East, including Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Senior representatives of investment funds with total assets exceeding $200 billion attended our event today. Private equity funds are approximately 60% of the direct foreign investor portfolio in Türkiye. Therefore, being on the radar of global private equity funds is always crucial for rising economies like Türkiye. I particularly want to emphasize that the great interest shown in our organization this year is highly gratifying for our country and us. During the conference, the session where Ahmet Dördüncü, President of the Sustainability Committee at the Woman in Technology Association, and Pelin Kocaalp, Member of Sustainability Committee at the Woman in Technology Association, held a discussion focused on the ‘Technological and Innovative Solutions in Water’ competition organized by the association.
The Woman in Technology Association’s Sustainability Committee aims to create new projects in the field of sustainability each year within the framework of the UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals, increasing awareness among young people and creating a more sustainable society and economy with technology. In this context, the Association selects a Sustainable Development Goal each year, providing an opportunity for new ideas, thoughts, and projects in this field.
This year, under the theme ‘Clean Water and Sanitation,’ the Woman in Technology Association is launching the ‘Technological and Innovative Solutions in Water’ competition. The competition opens up opportunities for students and entrepreneurs in the ‘student’ and ‘entrepreneur’ categories, studying STEM fields, women engineers, and entrepreneurs. The theme of clean water and sanitation has become increasingly important, particularly in the aftermath of the earthquake disaster that began on February 6. In this regard, the project not only contributes to the emergence of sustainability projects in Türkiye but also supports women’s initiatives with cash prizes.
