Binance, Türkiye’s leading crypto asset platform, has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Woman in Technology Association (Wtech) with the mission of promoting gender equality in technology and increasing financial literacy among women. The Binance Woman in Technology Academy aims to enhance financial literacy and empower women’s participation in the fields of crypto, blockchain, and Web 3.0. Simultaneously, it aspires to transform young women into leaders in the technology world.

The program, in which active participation in online training sessions is required, will cover modern financial technology areas such as crypto, NFT, blockchain, digital wallets, and cloud computing. Students enrolled in the program will receive education on topics including Financial Literacy, Monetary Economy Transforming with Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Industry 4.0, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Web 2.0, Web 3.0, Cybersecurity, NFT, Blockchain, Digital Wallet, Digital Productization, and Art and Cryptocurrency.

During the introductory meeting for the Binance Woman in Technology Academy, details about the collaboration, program content, and expectations from participants were discussed. The intersection of gastronomy and technology was highlighted, with experiences shared by “the Chef of the Year” İnanç Çelengil and Beverage Innovations Consultant Gözdem Gürbüzatik. Additionally, Binance affiliates Gülen Okumuş and Kamile Uray shared their success stories, emphasizing how women can make a difference by venturing into crypto assets, blockchain, and other technologies while overcoming household responsibilities.

Harika Eldoğan, the Marketing Director of Binance Türkiye, spoke about the collaboration with the Woman in Technology Association at the meeting. She stated: “As Binance, we are gradually advancing the ‘freedom of money’ approach, which we started with a user-focused vision. We are not just a ‘crypto asset exchange.’ As a technology company, we are working to grow the blockchain ecosystem by generating many projects. The Binance Woman in Technology Academy is one of the projects we have implemented to expand this ecosystem. We announced Binance Woman in Technology Academy during the Binance Blockchain Week held in Istanbul last November. Due to the intense interest shown in the program, we increased our initially planned capacity of 25 participants to 50. Throughout the year, we will continue this project to include women from all parts of Türkiye.” Harika Eldoğan expressed the goal of reaching 5,000 women in the next five years, aiming to take a significant step for combating gender inequality in this field.

Zehra Öney, the Founding President of the Woman in Technology Association, commented on the collaboration with the Binance Women in Technology Academy: “Web3 enables many women to establish a presence in the blockchain and crypto space. According to data published by Bloomberg in 2023, even though the male investor ratio in crypto is 57, 47% of crypto investors between the ages of 18-30 are women. Thus, the interest of the new generation of women in crypto is quite high. However, we still see low percentages of women in entrepreneurial and managerial positions in this field, and women face difficulties in accessing financial sources. According to crypto.news, by the end of 2023, while male CEOs in the crypto and blockchain field globally hold a majority of 94%, the ratio of female CEOs was only 6%. This shows that we need to increase the number of women not only in investment but also in mid-level and top-level executive positions starting from the grassroots through education. If we start offering these training programs now and empower women, we will achieve gender and opportunity equality in the Web3 world, which will bring about a dominant transformation in the near future. The goal of our association is to train individuals to be experts in technology, especially the women, who are numerically low and lack motivation to work in technology, R&D, and innovation so as to increase their number in employment and production processes. At the same time, we continue to work with the goal of highlighting the positive aspects of technology for the sustainability of the world. We do not want masses to be managed by artificial intelligence but rather manage, create, and produce in the age of artificial intelligence. Also, we value diversity in all fields. Individuals who understand and know Web3, quickly identify opportunities here, and implement innovations will undoubtedly have a head start in the Technology Age.”

Highlighting the interest in the program, Öney added, “Interest in the Binance Woman in Technology Academy has been consistently high from the beginning. We initially planned our pilot training with a group of 25 people. However, we received close to 122 applications, and to avoid leaving behind many talented young individuals, we decided to increase our student count to 50. With the Binance Woman in Technology Academy, we aim to provide education to 5,000 women in five years.”

The Binance Woman in Technology Academy, created through the collaboration between Binance and the Woman in Technology Association, aims to introduce young women to the technology world, offering opportunities for individuals to pursue their career in financial technologies, especially as leaders within the society. The project’s goal is to take a significant step towards reducing gender inequality in the crypto, blockchain, and Web 3.0 sectors, serving as a crucial milestone in enhancing Türkiye’s technological and economic strength.
